No reviews, no history, and everyone above you has both.
Starting from zero is a real disadvantage and pretending otherwise wastes your money. What follows is the order that works, what each step honestly costs in time, and the point at which the right answer is to wait rather than to buy.
Start here, in this order
Numbered because the order matters more than the effort. Doing five before two wastes both.
- Claim and configure the profile Free. Service area rather than storefront, address hidden, categories for every line you sell, honest hours. A weekend of attention, and the largest free gain available.
- Get the first ten reviews From the first ten jobs, asked at completion. This is the whole first quarter. Nothing else you buy works properly without it.
- Get a site that answers the phone Number visible, one page per service, fast on a phone. From $400 one time. It does not need to be impressive, it needs to work in a driveway.
- Then start authority, small Basic at $65 a month, running steadily. Two years of a small program beats four months of a large one, and the second is how most new businesses waste their first budget.
- Add lines as capacity allows Tile, upholstery and rugs are cheap visibility and sell to households you already reach. Restoration only when you can genuinely answer at 2am.
Why the first ten reviews are the whole first quarter
A new cleaner and an eight-year-old cleaner can have identical profiles. The review count is the difference, and it is the one thing that cannot be bought or accelerated.
Prominence is one of the three local ranking inputs, and for a business with no citations, no links and no history, reviews are effectively all of it. A profile with two reviews will not hold a position however well it is written.
Ten reviews changes the conversation for a homeowner too. Two reads as untested. Ten reads as a working business. The gap between those two numbers is worth more than anything else available to you in month one.
The mechanism is unremarkable and it is the whole job: ask every customer, at completion, before you leave, with a link that opens in two taps. Not later by email. Operators who do this from job one have forty reviews by month six. Operators who intend to start soon have four.
Velocity matters as much as count, which works in your favor here. A new business gathering two a week looks healthier than an established one that gathered thirty in 2023 and nothing since.
Never buy reviews, never incentivize them, never ask only the customers you expect to be happy. All three are detectable, all three breach platform policy, and the listing you are risking is the one your entire pipeline depends on.
When we would tell you to wait
Four situations where buying an SEO program is the wrong purchase this month. We say so because month four is a worse time to find out.
- Under about fifteen jobs a month
- At that volume the modeled annual value of a visibility lift is small enough that the program cost dominates it. Get to a working schedule first, then the arithmetic changes on its own.
- No website and no budget for one
- Authority pointed at nothing does nothing. A basic site is the cheaper purchase and it has to come first, even though it is less exciting than a rankings report.
- You cannot answer the phone
- If calls go to voicemail during working hours, more calls is not the fix. Visibility bought before the phone is handled converts into missed calls and one-star reviews.
- You are not sure you are staying
- Search compounds over quarters. If there is a real chance you close or change direction within six months, the money is better in equipment. That is an unusual thing for an agency to write down, and it is still true.
An honest first year
Approximate, market dependent, and deliberately unexciting. A timeline that promises more than this is a timeline written to close a sale.
A slow month inside that is normal and will be reported as one. Twelve consecutive good months is a reporting choice, not a search outcome.
Questions
Call 424-666-2202. If the answer is wait, that is what you will be told.
I have no reviews at all. Where do I start?
With the first ten, from the first ten jobs, asked at completion. Nothing else you can do in month one matters as much. A profile with two reviews will not hold a map pack position no matter how well it is configured, and no amount of link building substitutes for it.
Should I buy an SEO program in my first month?
Usually not the large one. Fix the profile, get the first reviews, and get a site that answers the phone. If you want to start building authority in parallel, Basic at $65 is the honest entry point. Spending $325 a month with no reviews and three pages is spending ahead of the foundation.
How long until search produces work?
Local visibility can start moving inside 60 to 90 days with a clean profile and steady reviews. Ranking for competitive terms against cleaners with eight years of history takes longer, six to twelve months and sometimes more. Anyone giving you a shorter number is guessing or selling.
What should I do while waiting?
The unglamorous things that compound: ask every customer, photograph your own work, answer the phone, and keep the schedule. Search rewards a business that already works. It cannot manufacture one, and an agency implying otherwise is going to disappoint you in month four.
Is there a point where you would tell me not to buy?
Yes, and we do. If you are doing under about fifteen jobs a month, have no reviews and no site, the honest sequence is profile, reviews and a basic site first. There is a whole guide on this site about when a business is not ready, which is not something agencies usually publish.
Do the free things first
Everything in this list costs nothing but attention, and all of it works whether or not you ever buy anything from us.
- Claim the profile, hide the address, set the service area to where you will drive
- Add secondary categories for every line you sell, not just carpet
- Photograph your own work and your own van, and use those instead of stock
- Ask every single customer for a review before you leave the job
- Answer the phone, or get someone who will, before buying visibility
- Write down which ZIP codes your best jobs came from
Tell us how many jobs you are doing.
That one number decides the honest answer. Send it with your domain and you will get back either a program that fits or a straight recommendation to wait and what to do in the meantime.
